LEON MID-SUMMER MENU LAUNCH Say hello to your new summer menu at LEON. Bursting with the best of British seasonal vegetables, this August we’re bringing you dishes that are big on flavour, high in protein, and low in carbs."
Posted on August 26, 2020

Like our new Paleo Plant Boxes. Roasted British broccoli, celeriac, cauliflower and red onion are dressed in zhoug – a bright, herby Middle Eastern sauce – then topped with Grilled Aubergine and Sumac Onions for a low-carb and vegan lunch that’s under 300 calories, or with Paprika Chicken and Garlic Aioli for high-protein dish under 400 calories.
Pair these with our new Summer Slaw, helping you eat fresh this summer. It’s a raw slaw made with julienned radish and carrots, fresh peas and crunchy celeriac and cabbage in a light dressing.

Eating more plants is good for us and good for the planet, so why not begin at breakfast?

The new Vegan Grilled Mushroom & Cheeze Muffin layers freshly grilled mushrooms, our LEON-made vegan cheese sauce, rocket and ketchup in a toasted English muffin for a plant-forward start to your morning.
Or try the new Shakshuka Egg Pot. It’s our take on the classic Middle Eastern dish, made with two freshly poached free-range eggs in a chilli- and paprika-spiced tomato sauce, topped with garlic yoghurt, sumac, and fresh herbs.
It doesn’t stop there. The new Vegan Chocolate & Banana Protein Shake serves up 12g of plant-based protein blended with banana, dates, cacao and hemp.

And finally, for a sweet finish, our friend Jesse at Humbledough has baked a Vegan Pecan, Maple & Oat Cookie packed with organic oats, maple syrup, pecans, and sultanas. It’s good for anytime and great for dunking.

Flu Jabs at Boots Help protect yourself against flu! Boots in Victoria Place offer the free NHS flu jab for eligible customers and the private Winter Flu Jab.

Tips for a sizzling Shrove Tuesday! Sweet or savoury? When it comes to Pancake Day, it’s always a toss-up, but we’ve got your back with our top tips and flavoursome fillings to tantalise those taste buds!"
Posted on February 6, 2020

It goes without saying that Sainsbury’s Local is your go-to place for all the ingredients for a sizzling Shrove Tuesday, but if you’re lacking the inspo for how to jazz up this household fave, then look no further!

Savoury crepes

  • Full English pancakes – what’s not to like? Breakfast and pancakes rolled into one! Stacked cheesy pancakes topped with bacon and mushroom slices and a poached or fried egg – yum!
  • Cheesy pancakes with broccoli and ham? Think enchiladas, minus the tomato and you’re almost there. Fill, roll and bake off this simply irresistible dinnertime treat.
  • Creamy chicken and mushroom pancakes – who knew pancakes could be so wholesome and delicious!
  • Crispy duck pancakes – put an oriental spin on Pancake Day with this mouth-watering dish.
  • Bacon, avocado and goat’s cheese – this hearty and healthy recipe is perfect for a Shrove Tuesday brunch!

Shrove Tuesday sweeteners
The great thing about pancakes is that simple, is often the best. From the traditional lemon juice and sugar, to maple or chocolate syrup, it’s easy to please.

If you’re looking to be a little more adventurous, try chocolate and strawberries, banana and honey, cherries and ice cream, apples and blueberries, hazelnut and blood orange… the list goes on.

Our tips for the perfect pancakes:

  • Begin with a simple batter. Eggs, milk, flour and a pinch of salt is all you need.
  • Leave it to rest. Leave your batter for 30-45 minutes.
  • Use a good pan – non-stick is best.
  • Butter is best – more flavoursome than oil, butter will give your pancakes better flavour.
  • Turn up the heat – make sure your pan is sizzling hot before you cook.
  • Don’t flip too early! Wait for the surface of the pancake to appear dry and the underside to be golden.
  • Warm as you go! If you’re serving all your pancakes in one go, keep them warm in the oven with a strip of greaseproof paper in between.
Fabulous February in the capital From the day of love through to Pancake Day and beyond, London is filled with fun things to do throughout February – here are just a few!"

Kings Cross – St Pancras’ Renaissance Hotel ‘Meet the Widow’ Party. Friday 27th October 7pm.

Kick off your visit to London in style. Victorian style, that is. Step back in time into the eerily classy Café Manouche and dance the night away to gothic jazz. But beware, there are rumours of the chilling ghost of Madame Cliquot making an appearance.

Euston – Wellcome Collection’s ‘Medicine Man’ Permanent Fixture.

Something for the morbidly curious. Step back in time and marvel at the weird and wonderful past of bodily health. With areas dedicated to Napoleon’s toothbrush to items including everything from diagnostic dolls, we can guarantee you’ll recoil in horror at Henry Wellcome’s graphic exhibition.

Warren Street – Pollock’s Toy Museum Permanent Fixture.

It could be cute… or it could be your worst nightmare. Lose yourself in six of the slightly unnerving rooms filled with Victorian toys galore. This family run establishment, created in the elegant 50s, is eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Oxford Circus – Regent Street Cinema’s ‘To Hell and Back’ 30th October, 7:30pm.

You’re in for the long haul… join fellow horror fans for an evening of terrifying shorts and movies on the big screen. Don’t forget, your ticket will include live performances, Q&As with the filmmakers and even a free prosthetic make-up session! It’s bound to be a scream.

Green Park – ‘The Ghouls of Green Park’ Permanent Fixture.

Do you dare to stroll in Green Park? There’s a plethora of haunted activity in the area – most famously at the ‘Death Tree’. Locals report seeing many morbid figures haunting the area. Why not explore the local haunts for yourself? We wouldn’t recommend going at night…

Victoria – The Apollo Theatre’s ‘Wicked’ Permanent Fixture.

There’s no place like home. This is the Wizard of Oz, but not as you know it! In this show-stopping musical, you’ll be bewitched by the powerful performances. Sit back at the Apollo Theatre, relax and sing along to your heart’s content, to theatre favourites like ‘For Good’ and ‘Defying Gravity’. You’ll be in for a wicked night!

When Harry wed Meg There’s nothing to get us brits feeling more patriotic than a good old Royal Wedding. And after all the excitement of Will and Kate’s nuptials just seven years ago, (we say ‘just’ – it actually feels like only yesterday that we were all cooing over her stunning dress!) we’re still riding the crest of that Royal Wedding wave."

And now it’s time for us to see Harry wed Meg and we couldn’t be happier! Never has there been a better excuse for a little street party or knees up with friends – YAY!

In the meantime, there are plenty of questions we want answers to – like, NOW! Notwithstanding the identity of the all-important dress, we’re also wondering if Prince Charles really IS gonna walk her down the aisle and just what sort of hatastrophy the Royal cousins will be rocking up in THIS TIME…

Well one thing’s for sure, if you want answers, there’s only one way to find out, unless you’re making your way down to Windsor in person. With LIVE coverage starting at 9am on BBC One and 9.25 on ITV on the big day, there’s plenty of time to get set up before the ceremony kicks off at midday. And if you’re hosting your very own Royal Wedding party, then we’ve got the party essentials covered at HEMA and Sainsbury’s, while New Look have gone all-out patriotic with their charming Royal Wedding collection to ensure you look the part.

And as an added bonus for our transatlantic guests, anyone presenting their US passport at Ed’s Easy Diner on Saturday 19th May will enjoy their main meal completely FREE!

Rather than despair at the thought, with all the planned travel disruptions – embrace it! Because with any journey that goes near London Victoria, we can help make your time on the tracks go with a swing.

Fortunately for you, Victoria Place makes the perfect pit stop if you happen to find yourself with a bit of extra time on your hands. Whether you’ve just enough time to grab a drink on the go, or a bit more time to sit and relax, there’s a great choice of restaurants and cafés.  From Nero, Costa and Pret A Manger to Leon, Tortilla, Frankie & Benny’s, Prezzo and Café Rouge to name but a few – there is something for whatever takes your fancy.
